Oh, it seems like forever since I posted any news (2 weeks). So I will try to keep it brief…yeah! Lol 🙂
First, with the sewing course, Say Sew, the girls did great installing their first zippers and attaching D-rings for the strap! It was a task with the zippers and I believe none of them enjoyed it. But I had to assure them that zippers will get easier. Their project were colorful wristlet pouches with zipper closure.
The d-rings were too large for this project.
I shared with the class that I make my jewelry. Well, guess what? They want a class on that. So with the 30 minutes of free sewing time, they learned how to make fish hook earrings. They were pleased.
Now for my company, J. Govan Designs, I have been sewing up a storm. My den is full of fabric from my random hauls from Hancock Fabrics. (*side-eye to Hubby, lol) We went to the country to visit our parents and I decided 10 minutes before leaving that I wanted a new top. Well, I had on one already…but wanted a newer top. So in 10 minutes flat, I made this tunic.
My mom was like, “I thought you bought it! It’s so cute!” This fabric was on the remnant table for $3.95/yd. I was told by one of the associates to always get it remeasured. It cost me $2. Yes! (Also, excuse the bathroom pic, lol)I was busy, you all!. My other outfits are…
What I normally hear on my ootd is, “What? You made that? You are so talented.” And, I do it off the cuff…zero patterns! To God be the glory!
New bow ties for clients…
Made my labels to save a fortune…
Phew! There it is! I told you that I was busy! 🙂
What are you working on?
Happy Mother’s Day to all of the moms & moms-to-be. I pray that your day was beautiful and blessed.
My weekend was nice, even though I didn’t get to see my grandmom, mom & mom -in-law. Hubby made it beautiful for me.
My sewing school, Say Sew, gave to the moms this year. Well, we gave the fabric, lol. The students made “Mother’s Day” maxi skirts for their moms. I gave them a choice of length and they all choose ankle length. This skirt is their very first handmade gift to someone. Here are some pics:
Without measurements, I also showed the students how to “take up” any slack in the waist if the skirt was too loose. They did pretty good for their 2nd skirt. I am so proud of them.
As far as J. Govan Designs, I find myself making a bow tie for Hubby every Saturday night. Here is the latest:
He wanted some bling!
And custom cufflinks! You may need to zoom in to see them. He even chose his own fabric…more than one color too! Aww, I love my baby!
What did you sew this past weekend?
This post will be brief. I just want you to know that it is hot!!!!! Like humid hot! Lol
With all seriousness, I am enjoying my Spring/Summer crocheted clothing. My mom, CEO and lead designer of Ivy’s Fashions, makes ALL of my crocheted goods. My pieces includes hats, purses, shrugs/shawls & skirts. So here is my OOTD:
It’s 93 degrees here in SC…yes, but I have no complaints. It’s way better than being cold & wet. How is your weather?
Here is my latest creation:
Who doesn’t love gingham in a bowtie?
Thanks to my handsome model, my hubby! I also made a tunic out of discounted scrap fabric from Hancock Fabrics. It is a SUPER stretchy knit, therefore, it has evolved into an “off the shoulder” tunic. The lesson learned here is when working with this type of knit, make smaller openings for the neck.
What did you create this weekend?
