Most recently, I have been accepting orders that push me into areas that I was intimidated to enter. My hubs has been instrumental in this as well. My theory for JGD is quick and easy projects.
My Sorors wanted dog tags to show our love for TPS. My Hubs wanted dog tags. I needed new dog tags. So as I was about to say that I will locate someone who made them, Hubs said to wait. We found some blank tags and began to cut out some vinyl logos. Voila! We now offer dog tags. 😀 Why I waited??? I was over thinking the process. I hate weeding small items and letters. But these are fast and easy.
How are you?? I miss my blog!!!
Oh. My. Goodness. Lol, it has been well over a year since I have been here on my blog! Need I say that I am NOT a blogger? 😊
I must give you all the updates of my business. I have been working (both my FT and JGD) and creating custom pieces for the home, office or gifts. I have introduced vinyl art! I now offer (in addition to my sewing and sewing classes) framed phrases, coasters, magnets, Yeti/steel tumbler decals, window decals, license plates for the front of the vehicle and more! This week, I experimented with alcohol ink. I love it!!! I am using them on my coasters and sealing them with epoxy resin. First time for that as well. So visit my look book when you get a chance: http://jgovandesigns.com.
Talk to you soon!
I created this dress for a client. The color is a bold yellow and the fabric is cotton interlock. It was easy to complete taking only a few hours. She later wanted a peplum added. The dress is cute either way.
Still needs to be pressed…
The ruffle is hand stitched in place. Hope you like it!
Hi, All! I pray that all is well.
Here’s an update on how things are going here in SC. I am still filling orders from all walks of life. Those that don’t sew, those that wished they knew how to sew and those that sew and just don’t. I celebrated my birthday last month and my wedding anniversary this month. So you know I had to make something spectacular! My birthday dress was a nice red number.
Hubs and I 😍
My anniversary dress…
My pastor celebrated his 50th birthday with a banquet. So I made quite a few dresses for that occasion for clients. I made my first (steam punk inspired) detachable bustle skirt, dress, Hub’s vest and tie. He made his scarf :).

Also, not shown is a black fitted gown like the one above and a maternity gown with flounce bottom.
So I have been busy. I am excited for 2015. Are you?
Hi, World!!! Happy New Year!
Oh my, I do apologize for my absence! With the hustle and bustle of the Holidays and filling orders, I honestly had no time to stop and fill you in.
Well, let me start here…😄
I have officially revamped the “Jai ” Bag” from the 2007 version. With the use of duck fabrics and faux leather, the revamping is off to great start. Thank you, Jesus. I have made a couple of “Mommy and me” dresses, Jai Bags and mini dresses. I will post pics for you at the end.
Christmas was beautiful for my family. How was your holiday? I pray that all went well. Since my last post, I have invested in a serger, Brother 1034D. My Hubs bought me a hobby table…oh, how I needed one! Using the dining room table was a back breaker!!! We are searching for a home (not apt) so that I am able to have an official sewing room/Woman Cave. Exciting!!
I am excited to hear about your projects for 2015. What do you have going on?
Family time at the parents for Christmas…
Woohoo! The Say Sew! student fashion show was awesome! Everyone enjoyed the girls, my mini toddler models and the VIP red carpet. To update you, three of my students modeled a complete outfit from the term. It was a lot of work… But it was worth it. Thanks to my hubby for being my carpenter and designer of the space. He made an awesome cupcake stand that people are still raving about and want one for their own event. Of course, he told them that it won’t be free. 😆😆 Here are some pics…

Mom and I…. We look alike, don’t we? 💜
My cake stand… My sis was my photographer and editing at this point.
So, what have you been up to?
This look is self-drafted. It has a simple stretch top with a peplum attached to this tan canvas remnant that I purchased. I did not make the shrug. Overall, this look had cost about $5 in materials. Yes! In the future, I will add a kick pleat in the skirt. I could barely get up my 3 flights of stairs at my apartment complex. Penguin waddle for sure! Lol, but it is a cute outfit.
What are you working on?
